Hierarchial Data Format

The Hierarchical Data Format (HDF), from NCSA, is a library for Fortran or C which writes binary or ASCII files. A single file can store collections of numerical datasets or collections of images and annotations. The annotations allow you to store with the raw data a complete description of how that data was produced.
