Image Editing

For the final product, be it images or plots, there are some very useful tools under Windows.

Adobe Illustrator: This edits encapsulated postscript files directly. That way you can fix a picture if you don't like the font or need to add comments.
Adobe Photoshop: Photoshop does image processing, and it can be used to put 2D photos into print-quality papers.
Adobe Acrobat: Many publications require PDF, and it is sometimes beneficial to convert your images to PDF beforehand using the full version of Adobe Acrobat (not just Acrobat Reader).
