Third party applications
Although the majority of heavy computation on CTC machines is done by users who
develop their own codes in Fortran or C, some users accomplish their research using
applications written by third party vendors.
Not all application packages are installed on all clusters.
Currently there is a much larger set of applications on Windows, but the Linux set
will be increasing as the cluster matures.
Due to vendor licensing restrictions, many application packages are limited to academic
use only.
Application packages installed at CTC include packages in the following
categories.
Computational chemistry
Gaussian
Finite element modeling
Abaqus
Ansys
Diffpack
Fluid dynamics
Fluent and Fidap
Mathematical
Maple
Mathematica
Matlab
CAVE: 3D Modeling programs
X3D Studio Max (in collaboratory, makes 3D virtual models)
VRScape--views VRML files (in CAVE)
Data steering possible
Online Documentation
Windows
Online documentation provided by application vendors is copied to H:\CTC Tools\SoftwareDocs\application.
File formats may include pdf, html, and/or others. Tutorials and/or examples
may also be included.
Linux
Software documentation will be installed in /ctc/tools/softwaredocs.
