Introduction

Velocity Scheduler (vsched) is a batch queuing system that distributes jobs to a cluster of workstations and/or to nodes of a multi-processor machine.

Velocity Scheduler (vsched) is a batch queuing system that distributes jobs to a cluster of workstations and/or to nodes of a multi-processor machine. The scheduler manages when and how a batch job is run based on preferences set up by the user and system administrator(s). You can submit batch jobs and issue queries using a few simple commands.

Prerequisites:

To use the batch system, you must have an account and know how to log in and use the login nodes, covered in the Getting Started module. You must also have a compiled program to run, covered in separate modules for Windows and Linux.
